"The Dockside Group represents the top brands within their market segments,' says Spencer. "Ranger, Triton and Stratos have always been recognized as the leaders among freshwater fishing boats, while Bennington is known as a leader among pontoons, so we're thrilled to be able to represent Cruisers Yachts, Azure Sport Boats, and Rampage offshore fishing boats, which are also recognized as leaders within their respective categories.'
The announcement brings Azure back to its roots in a sense, since the brand was originally represented in Canada by The Dockside Group. Azure was launched by Bennington Marine, sold to Mariah, then in February 2012 acquired by Oconto, Wisconsin-KCS International Inc., parent company to Cruisers Yachts and Rampage fishing boats. KCS announced the acquisition at this year's Miami International Boat Show, and began moving production tooling from the company's former facility in South Carolina by the end of February. It rolled out its first model from the Wisconsin plant in May. The Azure lineup currently includes 10 models of bowriders, sport decks, sport cuddies and cruisers ranging from 23 to 29 feet.
"The Cruiser Yacht Line is recognized as a top-flight boat. With their skills in boat building, they're going to take Azure to that same level. We toured the factory and what we saw was very exciting,' says Spencer.
