Tohatsu Announces New Engines For 2011 Model Year

Tohatsu America Corp., North American distributor of Tohatsu and Nissan Marine outboards, has announced a number of innovations throughout its outboard motor line for the 2011 model year.

Updated 4, 5 and 6 horsepower outboards will be made available by spring 2011, each featuring a front mounted shift handle, an industry first in this category. The new portables will also offer a 110mm extension of the tiller handle from previous models, plus a new, larger carrying handle and holding grip for easier handling in transport. Further, the fuel cap has been relocated to the front of the engine for faster and more convenient refueling.

Also new for 2011, the company will offer its 20 horsepower four-stroke in a  signature Sportsman's camouflage edition utilizing Mossy Oak Duck Blind camouflage with an autumn brown lower unit.

Tohatsu's 70 and 90 horsepower models also benefit from updates for 2011. The 70 horsepower model is replaced by a 75 horsepower unit that shares a new, uniquely designed cowling with the 90 horsepower model, featuring extra internal layering for quieter operation, as well as a convenient, built-in freshwater flush system to simplify routine engine flushing.

Tohatsu notes that its entire TLDI Series has achieved 3-Star ratings for ultra-low emissions from the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
