Canadian Boat Shows (CBS), organizer and operator of the Toronto International Boat Show, released its first attendance report for Friday's Special Preview Night as well as and the show's opening weekend. The show runs until January 19 at the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto.
This year, Special Preview Night's attendance was up by seven percent compared to last year, attracting 1,340 visitors according to CBS. The evening supports several charities through the silent and live auctions of items donated by members of the recreational marine industry. In 2013, CBS says the event drew 1,250 people.
Opening weekend numbers weren't as high as initially hoped. Despite a huge lineup on opening morning (January 11), Saturday's attendance was reported at 11,863 by CBS, down 18 percent from last year's opening day of 14,466. Sunday's attendance was also down, reported at 9,504, a 21 percent decrease from the 12,041 that visited the same day last year.
The event features over 1,200 boats on display and offers over 144 seminars.
