Two Boats Stolen From Sydney Boat Show

The Australian Boating Industry Association reports that two fibreglass boats were stolen during the move-out from the Sydney International Boat Show, which wrapped up this past weekend.

The missing boats are a 19-foot Sailfish Reef Runner catamaran with twin Honda 60 horsepower outboards, valued at about $80,000, and an 18-foot Sailfish Reef Fishing model with a single Honda 90 horsepower outboard valued at approximately $65,000. The boats were discovered to be missing during move-out on the evening of August 6. Both were being displayed at the show by dealer Webbe Marine, based in Kerrawee, New South Wales.

Police are investigating the theft while the insurer, Nautilus Marine Insurance Agency, is offering a sizable reward for information that leads to the recovery of the vessels. The boats, which were displayed on trailers, are presumed to have been simply hauled away during move-out by persons unknown. While it is unlikely the stolen boats will surface in Canada, the incident serves as an unfortunate reminder that security can never be taken for granted when transporting inventory off-site.
