An estimated 600 to 700 staff representing more than 300 dealerships across Canada are in Richmond, BC this weekend for the 13th annual Western Marine and Transat Marine Dealer Trade Show, held once again at the Richmond Olympic Oval.
"We've been successful in attracting more dealers from Alberta and the Prairies, in particular, this year,' says VP and Managing Partner, Alan Stovell. "We have a strong representation from Ontario, and we actually have people attending from every province and territory in the country.'
Stovell notes that favourable summer weather throughout most of western and central Canada provided dealers with sales boosts this year. "Most of our dealers are telling us they're coming into the fall with very clean inventory. They're looking to replenish some empty shelves, and see what's new for the coming year. Our show is larger this year, by about 10 percent, which reflects not just new products but also some new brands we haven't carried before. So there's a lot to see.'
The show, spanning 50,000 square feet, shares space with a companion dealer show hosted by fishing tackle distributor Redl Sports. “It makes sense for us to combine our shows under one roof,” says Stovell. “Many of our customers are also customers of Redl Sports, and vice-versa. Sharing the space allows both of our companies to make it easy for our dealers by providing them with one-stop shopping.”
The show continues through Sunday at the Richmond Olympic Oval in Richmond, BC. Watch the November issue of Boating Business for full coverage.
