Vancouver, BC-based Xantrex, known for its inverters and chargers for marine and RV industries, has launched a power time video series to better educate industry members handling its products. The organization says it is a strong believer in industry education on aspects related to the selection, installation and use of AC power products.
Xantrex has also been working with the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC), most recently serving as presenting sponsor for the ABYC's 2015 annual general meeting held at Seattle earlier this month. Xantrex is collaborating with Ed Sherman, ABYC's Director of Educational Programming, to help share its experience on electrical systems via a new innovative video series. In the video series titled "Power Time,' Sherman imparts unbiased education that both sellers and users of AC power products could find beneficial.
"Ed is not endorsing our products or brand. Our goal has always been to bring to light critical issues through the eyes of an expert. It is as simple as that,' said John McMillan, Director of Sales for Xantrex branded products at Schneider Electric. "We have done a lot of work for the industry education but we need to do more. From our own research and experience at consumer and trade shows, we have realized that we need to communicate consistently about some of the most commonly encountered technical, troubleshooting and installation challenges. For example, the vast majority of people do not know that UL458 with marine supplement is a regulatory standard for electrical products specific to marine applications. Very few products meet this standard. The new video series continues our legacy and we are proud of it.'
In the past two years, Xantrex has built a repository of how-to and technical information in print and video formats for installers and do-it-yourselfers. This complements the ‘Tech Doctor' program designed primarily for end-users.
