Yamaha Launches Facebook Photo Contest

In an effort to drive consumer traffic to its Facebook page, Yamaha Motor Canada is holding a $5,000 grand prize photo contest on the social network site running until February 28. Anyone who owns a Yamaha product, including a boat or Waverunner, is welcome to enter.

“We want to stay connected with consumers in a way that engages conversation from both sides,” says Tim Kennedy, Yamaha Motor Canada's Marketing Manager. “We're inviting people to become fans, upload a creative photo of them and their Yamaha, and they could win $5,000 to spend on anything found on yamaha-motor.ca. Photos that really stand out may even be selected for use in future Yamaha ads.”

According to Danny Brault, Yamaha Motor Canada's PR Coordinator, this new contest was timed to coincide with several upcoming motorcycle shows that will be happening across Canada in the coming months. “It's not centered around the motorcycle shows,” explains Brault. “It's just a good way to publicly promote it and get it into people's faces. We understand that social media sites are definitely growing. It's a good avenue for us to engage in conversation with customers, potential customers or even just anybody that is a fan of recreational products. We will have a kiosk at each of the upcoming motorcycle shows that's dressed up with the same theme as some of the images that are sent in by participants. There will be a computer there where visitors can sign onto the Facebook page and read about the contest, become a fan and later upload a photo.”
