Yamaha Motor Canada announced today that all Yamaha dealers in Canada will be able to receive Yamaha outboards factory-direct from more than 50 independent OEM boat brands. The move represents a significant change to the company's Canadian distribution model for outboard motors.
"Over the last several seasons, we've actively listened to our customers, and heard their desire to secure Yamaha engines OEM factory installed from a variety of independent boat manufacturers across North America,' says Rick Layzell, Yamaha Motor Canada's National Sales Manager, Marine and OPE, in a company video announcement. "Yamaha dealers across Canada can now package Yamaha outboards with their choice of up to 50 different EM brands.'
The move simplifies financial paperwork for dealers and provides clearer inventory management, according to the company. All package components, including boats, trailers, accessories and Yamaha engines can now be funded on the dealer's choice of credit facility. Dealers selling additional Yamaha product, including WaveRunners, snowmobiles, ATVs, side-by-sides and power equipment will continue to fund inventory under their existing YMCF account, notes Layzell, along with loose engines, tiller engines, repower engines, or engines required for sales to special market customers.
With more than 50 boat manufacturers in North America, Yamaha Motor Canada has evolved a companion drop-ship program to ensure OEMs supporting the Yamaha brand, but not participating in the new packaging program, will still be able to provide Canadian dealers with competitively priced engines as the company repositions outboard pricing in Canada. For 2013, Yamaha has listed significant price reductions on propellers, tiller handles and outboards.
Yamaha has produced a detailed video, hosted on YouTube, in which Layzell explains the new program in depth. Click here to view, or paste the video URL directly into your browser: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9beXHt3UcA
