Thomas Marine Group Acquires Three Locations


Thomas Marine Group has announced a major expansion, adding three new locations in 2017, bringing the company up to seven stores in total. The dealer/marina chain, in business for over 30 years, will be adding an additional on-water facility in Laval, Quebec and two full-service marinas in the Gatineau, Quebec region on the Ottawa River.

Currently the company operates four dealerships in the greater Montreal region, including St-Charles-sur-Richelieu, Sorel, Laval as well as the original head office situated in Varennes.

The move represents an over $5 million dollars in acquisitions for Thomas Marine Group, making it the most significant expansion for the company in its history.

“We have been considering expanding our services in Laval for quite some time. Our customers in the north part of the city will now benefit from a full service, on-the-water facility with ample space for storage for over 400 boats, mechanics and boat trials,” says Marc-André Thomas, Vice-President, Thomas Marine Group. “The Gatineau region has also been in our sights but we knew that if we wanted to succeed in that market, we would have to come in very seriously. We are extremely proud to be able to bring our expertise, incredible product lines and above all service to the Ottawa River with two ideally situated locations.”

The first new expansion is the former Marina Venise in Ste-Rose, Laval.

This location will serve as an extension to the existing Laval location as all parts and services will be transferred there. The new 300,000 square-foot facility will continue servicing the local hydroplane business and will feature a boat launch ramp as well. Meanwhile, the Laval location will reportedly benefit from an expanded showroom.

The second location is the former Martha’s Cove Marina located in Brownsburg, Quebec.

Situated in a calm bay on the Ottawa River next to the Brownsburg-Chatham campground and just across from the Voyageur Provincial Ontario Park, this dealership will feature boat sales, parts and service, storage, diesel gas, boat ramp and is fully capable to handle crafts up to 50 feet in length.

The third and final location will expand the Thomas Marine footprint westward into the Gatineau region.

Formerly known as Marina Leblanc et Fils, the facility features over 90-plus boat slips in a protected space surrounded by a break wall. Equipped with a 30-ton capable Travelift that will be able to manipulate bigger crafts, this location will also feature a showroom, parts and service, storage and boat ramp.

Thomas Marine existing lines, which include Princecraft, Bayliner, Sea Ray, Crownline, Ranger, Boston Whaler and Carver. It has yet to be determined which brands will offered at the new locations.

Thomas Marine’s outboard motors will include Mercury Marine engines as well as related accessories.

The expansion also enables the dealer to accommodate an additional 800 boats than it was prior to the acquisitions.

All three expansion locations are scheduled to be open for the start of this year’s boating season. The acquisitions make Thomas Marine Group the largest dealer/marina chain in Quebec.
