Yanmar to power 35th America’s Cup

The America’s Cup is pleased to announce that Yanmar Co. Ltd. has become the official marine engines partner for the 35th America’s Cup.

The event is currently taking place now in Bermuda until June 25.

Yanmar’s marine diesel engines are being used on the VIP shuttle boat, which takes guests out to the racecourse area to watch professional sailors compete for one of the oldest trophies in international sport.

“Through our partnership with Yanmar we can deliver a VIP experience for our guests,” says Russell Coutts, CEO of the America’s Cup Event Authority. “We need reliability, performance and an environmentally sound power source, and Yanmar delivers on all counts.”

“For many years, Yanmar’s marine engines have been much loved by pleasure boat enthusiasts all over the world,” says Yanmar’s President, Takehito Yamaoka. “As a manufacturer of performance marine engines, it gives us great pride that we have been selected for our engines’ power, environmental performance and extreme reliability to become the official marine engines partner for the 35th America’s Cup. Being able to support the VIP program at the America’s Cup is a great honour for us, and we look forward to the upcoming events.”

Beginning June 4, the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup Challenger Playoffs will determine the ultimate Challenger who will face the defending champion of the America’s Cup, Oracle Team USA, beginning June 17.
